Frequently asked questions.

Are the leaves treated to make them stronger and more flexible?

The leaves are thoroughly washed after collection and thereafter treated in a water based solution with natural raw ingredients to restore and preserve their flexibility and strength.

What about longevity?

The natural degradation of leaves occurs through exposure to environmental factors such as weather, insects, microorganisms, and ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Every effort is made to mitigate these influences and preserve the longevity of my work.

All leaves are thoroughly dried for several weeks, even months after preservation. Some may be stored for years before being selected for a piece. The drying process is a standard conservation technique used extensively in botanical collections worldwide. For example, major botanical collections, such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, often hold specimens that are centuries old.

Do you take commissions?

Yes, I welcome commission requests. Due to the natural variations inherent in the materials I use, each piece is unique. The works displayed on my website provide examples of my previous creations and can serve as a starting point for discussion. I'm always happy to receive enquiries and to discuss options. Works can also be shipped worldwide.
